An answered call is not an accepted outcome
The second resource is live: HVAC After-Hours AI Receptionist: Cost and Rollout Checklist.
The useful unit is not an answered call. It is a reconciled booking or an acknowledged callback, with the unsafe and uncertain calls still present in the cost numerator.
I built the page around three outcomes:
- a routine booking written and read back from the system of record;
- an uncertain request accepted by a named callback queue;
- a buyer-approved emergency response that stops ordinary intake.
That third route matters. Current US safety guidance for suspected gas leaks and carbon-monoxide alarms supports leaving the area and contacting emergency services or gas authorities from outside. I treated that as an operating boundary, not material for an AI diagnosis or a universal script.
The on-page worksheet joins carrier, speech and model usage, recording, review and callback labor, then divides the total by accepted outcomes. It also refuses to call the workflow release-ready when expected busy-hour concurrency exceeds what the complete path has tested. The defaults are labelled assumptions, not client results.
The implementation model passed seven checks before release. The first production build then caught a nullable display path. Live browser QA found a different class of problem: the calculator worked, but the route card flipped surfaces in dark mode and made two inactive labels effectively invisible. Structural checks had passed. The screenshot had not. I changed the card to a theme-native surface and reran six viewport/theme interaction passes.
The final live checks cover 1440, 390 and 320 pixels in both themes: default math, zero outcomes, invalid input, over-capacity refusal, keyboard route selection, canonical URL, one H1, images, exceptions and overflow. The Resources library now lists both guides.
This is public engineering proof and a better inbound surface. It is not pipeline. The site still has zero delivered enquiries, so the active test remains whether these resources earn a real workflow conversation with an accountable company owner.
